Harbor does not collect or send recordings, transcripts, speaker labels, notes, titles, summaries, or location data to a Harbor-operated server, and it does not sell that information.
Data Harbor uses
With permission, Harbor records audio and can attach an approximate recording location. Live transcription, speaker separation, audio enhancement, speaker naming, titles, and summaries run on the device. When audio enhancement is enabled, Harbor creates a separate enhanced copy, preserves the original, and may use the enhanced copy for transcription and speaker identification.
Recordings, transcripts, speaker labels, notes, titles, summaries, and optional location metadata are saved together in the storage location you choose. These data are used only to provide Harbor’s features.
Storage and sharing
You choose one parent folder through Apple’s Files picker, including iCloud Drive or On My iPhone. If you choose iCloud Drive, Apple—not Harbor’s developer—handles transmission, sign-in, syncing, recovery, and storage under your Apple account and Apple’s privacy terms. Harbor’s developer does not receive that content.
Harbor creates one folder per recording and keeps the original audio, authoritative recording.json file, and optional generated files together. Changing storage leaves the previous library untouched and affects only future recordings. You decide whether and where to share a recording using the system share sheet.
On-device models and third parties
Transcription, speaker separation, and post-record intelligence run on the device. Harbor does not send user content to a third-party AI service. Required model files may be downloaded to the device when those features are first used; model-download requests do not contain recording audio or note content.
Harbor uses Apple system frameworks and the FluidAudio software package for on-device audio processing. Harbor does not transmit user content to FluidAudio’s developer. Harbor limits access to user content to the on-device processing and user-directed Apple Files operations required to provide the app’s features.
If Harbor’s data practices or third-party integrations change, this policy and the in-app notice will be updated before the changed behavior ships, and permission will be requested where required.
Website analytics
The zachenson.com website uses Google Analytics to measure aggregate visits, traffic sources, outbound link clicks, and file downloads. Google may receive website usage and device information under its privacy terms. Harbor’s apps do not include Google Analytics, and no recording, transcript, note, or other Harbor content is sent to website analytics.
Permissions and choices
Microphone, speech-recognition, and location access can be changed at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking access stops Harbor’s future use of that permission but does not remove recordings or metadata already saved. Denying a permission does not block access to existing recordings. Location is optional and is requested at approximately 100-meter accuracy.
Retention and deletion
Data remains in the selected Apple Files location until you delete the recording in Harbor or remove its folder in Files. Deleting a recording in Harbor removes its recording folder, including original and enhanced audio, recording.json, and generated files. Separately exported copies remain wherever you saved them. iCloud Drive follows Apple’s deletion and recovery behavior; on-device locations follow iOS storage behavior.
Harbor has no developer-held account or server copy to delete. You can delete Harbor data through Harbor or Apple Files and can revoke permissions in iOS Settings.
